Egmond Aan Zee Travel Guide!

9 X Best Tips For Egmond Aan Zee!

As we continue to deal with Corona restrictions and travel bans, we also have a wonderful opportunity to get to know and explore our own backyards more than before. Springtime is almost upon us (and may I say YaY!) it's time for beautiful day trips from Amsterdam!

If you're looking for a great day trip from Amsterdam consider Egmond aan Zee! Egmond has three central attractions; Egmond aan zee is the beach area, Egmond-Binnen features pasture landscape, in the season magical tulips fields, and has the oldest abbey in the country, and finally Egmond den Hoef, the historical village.

Egmond den Hoef is located about a 40 minutes drive from Amsterdam, also, it is a short drive from the beach so this road trip offers the country as well as the seafront, it is a perfect combination!

What can you see & do in Egmond Aan Zee

  • Start in the historic part, the village Egmond den Hoef: At the heart of the village, you will find the ruins of the Castle den Hoef next to the village's beautiful Chapel dating back to 1234. The castle dates back to the Middle Ages, it was destroyed in 1573 so the Spanish will not be able to use it as a hiding place during the war with the Netherlands.
