Top Tips to uncovering some of Maastricht magic:
Maastricht has wonderful markets you'll love! My favorites are: The flea market taking place on Saturdays between 10:00 to 16:00 in the Stationsstraat. Antiques, books, vintage items and more...Maastricht’s main market takes place in Markt square every Wednesday and Friday from 9:00 to 15:00.
Visit Sint Janskerk: This is a Gothic-style church and very impressive indeed.
Stop by the Romanesque Basilica of St. Servatius: This is a Cathedral dating back to the 11th century. You'll find here a stunning collection of religious art.
Have drinks and a meal in the country's most famous square of Vrijthof, situated at the heart of the city. This square was built in 1223 and is surrounded by Sint-Janskerk, Sint-Servaas and of course cozy terraces.
Visit the city's park: It's a beautiful and relaxing green space with fountains, playgrounds, and picturesque water views.
Take a cruise on the Maas River: The boat tour takes around an hour. If you would like to you can combine it with stopping in Sint Pietersberg for a walk of the caves. You will also pass by the highest point of the country.
Visit Onze Lieve Vrouw- The Basilica & Square of Our Lady: This breathtaking Basilica is dedicated to Our Lady of the Assumption, this church has been standing here since the 9th century and it's built on the very spot of where the oldest church of The Netherlands is believed to have been once. This square is in the historic center of Maastricht.
