Walk around: There are pretty and colorful streets you can wander around in. A very popular area to walk in is Ten Wijngaerde Beguinage; back in the day, these pretty white houses were occupied by single emancipated women leading a celibate life. Nowadays, the Sisters of the Order of Saint Benedict live here, allowing you a glimpse into their lives.

Visit the Church of Our Lady: The biggest attraction here is the sculpture created by Michelangelo- The Madonna with Child, dating back to 1503. 

Visit the Basilica of the Holy Blood: This is possibly one of the most unique Basilicas you’ll visit. Here you will find a piece of Christ himself, his blood to be exact believed to have been collected by Joseph of Arimathea and brought here from the Holy Land. Just to be clear, you will not find actual blood here but rather a piece of his clothing.

Go up the Belfort Bell Tower: This beautiful 83-meter tower housing no less than 47 bells, dates back to the fifteenth century and is a proclaimed UNESCO World Heritage site

Good to know: Going up to the top is by using the stairs, 366 stairs to be exact. The lines might be long however it's worth it and not just for the views, you will also be able to hear the bells ringing on the hour, and it's no ordinary sound indeed!

Have lunch or drink break in the square opposite the Town Hall: This building is definitely worth your attention! It was built between 1376 to 1420 in a Gothic style which is evident down to the smallest of details. You can also wander inside to admire the decor, art, and murals from the inside. All in all, it's a great location to chill and enjoy the vibes.

For all you lovers out there-Visit the VMinnewater Park: Right at the heart of it, you'll find what is referred to as the Lake of Love & Lover's bridge. The story is that once upon a time a young girl called Minna was in love with Stromberg, a warrior of a neighboring tribe.

Forbidden to be together by her father, Minna was to marry a man set up for her by her family. And so she escaped to the forest, only to die in her lover's arms from exhaustion once she was found. Tragic love story right? Now it is believed that if you walk over the bridge and kiss your loved one your love will be eternal.
