We chose to stay at the Scandic Continental where location, views, and comfort all come together! The stunning rooftop bar & restaurant, and pool were a big plus. The hotel is situated just a few minutes walk from the central station; it's also very easy to reach from Arlanda airport. Most of the city attractions are within reasonable walking distance so you can explore it on foot without depending on public transport or requiring a car.

Museums in Stockholm

There are many museums to choose from depending on what ticks your fancy, from history to art to music. These three are my top recommendations as it gives a combined taste of all things Swedish: History, art, and music.

One of the city's most famous museums is located in Gamlastan ~ The Vasa Museum- You can see a giant seventeenth-century warship.
Stockholm is home to one of the most famous photo galleries- Fotografiska.
The Abba museum-We had a blast here! It's an interactive type museum where you get to unleash the dancing queen within you, and even record your own song! Great fun guaranteed.

Food Pitstops in Stockholm

No visit is complete without tasting the famous Swedish meatballs and herring- A delicious restaurant to do just that is Den Gyldene Freden

The oldest and possibly most colorful square is Stortoget, great for coffee or afternoon drinks, a good spot to enjoy the sun rays, and people watching.

Visit the Hornstull Market- A famous attraction along the water where you’ll find a yummy selection of food trucks!

For the lovers of Italian cuisine with a creative twist; have dinner at Taverna Brillo

Have a night out on one of the glorious rooftops in the city, my favorite is The Nest, located on the 9th floor of the Downtown Camper Hotel at the heart of the city. Panoramic views, beautiful cocktails, and a great overall atmosphere.

Sightseeing Highlights in Stockholm

The city's oldest district is called Gamla Stan, it showcases the city perfectly ~ Here you'll find the Royal Palace where you can also watch the changing of the guards. Breathtaking architecture and medieval buildings surround you, the gorgeous water and city views are beautiful and relaxing, squares, and cobblestone streets. It is simply wonderful roaming around here! Other attractions you'll come across are the City Hall and Kungstragarden Park (if you're visiting in April you'll see the magnificent cherry blossom).

Golden Tip ~ He secretly hides in a tiny courtyard ~ 'The little boy who looks at the moon', he is believed to bring good luck to those who touch him.

For the market lovers, check out the fun market in Hornstull- Perfect for a treasure hunt.

Take a boat ride to Djurgarden Island- It's about greenery, relaxation, and museums. Some of the things you can enjoy here are a picnic, visit Skansen; an open-air museum showcasing the evolution of life in Sweden over five centuries, you can also observe wild Nordic animals. One of the city's most famous museums I have already mentioned is located here; The Vasa Museum. You can also see a giant seventeenth-century warship here.
